From November 30 – December 1, 2004, George W. Bush, President of the United States, will be in Ottawa for a State Visit.

Bush is wrong, and the people of Canada know it.

We, the No to Bush Committee, call for actions to occur throughout Canada, and especially in Ottawa, for the duration of the time that George W. Bush is here.

The No to Bush Committee is organizing mass demonstrations. We invite all who oppose Bush and his policies to come to Ottawa for these events.

We are organizing housing, food and legal resources, and a central information and welcome centre. Anyone demonstrating against Bush can make use of these resources.

Du 30 novembre au 1er décembre, 2004 le président américain, George W. Bush, visitera Ottawa pour effectuer une visite d’État.

Bush a tort, et le peuple canadien le sait.

Pour la durée de la visite du président, nous, le comité Disons Non A Bush, faisons un appel à l’action à travers le Canada, et surtout ici en Ottawa.

Présentement, le comité Disons Non A Bush organise de grandes manifestations et invite tous ceux qui s’opposent à Bush et sa politique de venir à Ottawa pour participer dans ces événements.

Nous sommes en train d’organiser le logement, les repas, le soutien légal, un réseau d’information central ainsi qu’un centre d’accueil. Tous ceux qui participent dans les manifestations contre Bush auront accès à ces ressources.

To put the women's march coverage in perspective, FAIR conducted a similar Nexis search of the week surrounding the Promise Keepers march in 1997. The Promise Keepers, an evangelical men's organization that has been widely accused of promoting misogyny and homophobia, drew an estimated 480,000-750,000 demonstrators to Washington-- roughly three-quarters the size of the women's march. Despite its somewhat smaller size, the Promise Keepers received much more media attention: Stories began appearing on network news three days before the march and continued for two days afterward, with a total of 19 stories between the three broadcast networks-- more than three times the coverage the networks devoted to the women's march. Was the Promise Keepers march three times more newsworthy than the March for Women's Lives?

last night i watched Dreamcatcher. worst movie ever. great example of foreshadowing done poorly. i give it 4/10 only cuz at the beginning it at least had some potential. oh Morgan Freeman how could you?

speaking of movies, i'm looking forward to Ginger Snaps 2. though i'm skeptical of it being nearly as good as the original. i think i'm gonna go next Saturday to check it out.

anyone seen Max? it's a fictional movie about hitler as an artist/futurist post ww1 and prior to his leading Germany. John Cusack was awesome in his role as Max, a Jewish art dealer who befriends/pitties young hitler. i liked it as it had an interesting idea behind it, but it was slow moving. the ending was somewhat odd with hitler seemingly willing to give up his speaking "career" for his developing art career. if only that would have actually happened!

it's hilarious that the Flaming Lips song (Do You Realize?) that is used in a commerical to add a sort of a warm touch, but if you listen to the whole thing it's far more brooding. that is all.

Ottawa Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil

Human Rights Memorial at Elgin and Lisgar across from city hall and the court

The vigil is to remember all the trans people who died to prejudice, violence, suicide and while fighting for trans rights and etc.

This is the 5th anniversary of the Transgender Day of Remembrance, and this is the first year Ottawa participates a long with many other locations and cities across the world, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal.

Homestar Runner CD

Internet hero Homestar Runner and his pals are making the jump to CD. Creators Mike and Matt Chapman recently spent time mixing more than 20 songs created for Homestarrrunner.com, plus new material, at Atlanta's Ruby Red Productions for a forthcoming CD.

The Atlanta-based pair recorded the songs at home, where they create the cartoon shorts and other content for the Flash-animated Web site. The self-released disc will be available through the site beginning next week. Clips of several songs are available for streaming on the homepage.

Stemming from a self-published children's book, the site is fueled by absurdist situational humor relating to Homestar and such characters as Strong Bad, Marzipan, the Cheat and the Coach, who dresses like Public Enemy's Flavor Flav and has an overpowering Wisconsin accent. Word-of-mouth has made the site a cult favorite, drawing more than 200,000 hits each day.

so i was walking to work yesterday when a careless driver was pulling out of a parking garage of some building and clearly sees me just starting to walk in their path. do they stop? nope. they kept going and nearly ran me down. so i looked at 'em and gave them the finger. and some how i felt bad for that as they didn't actually run me over. sigh. that is all.

well it's obvious to anyone who was at Lizzle's brother's and new sister(in-law)'s wedding reception last night that i can't dance worth shit :) i'm too punk to dance. it's true. :P

Lizzle (swoon) sizzled last night and i was so glad to see her again even if it had only been a coupla weeks since i last saw her. anyway, it was a *really* nice reception with very little of the drunken buffoonery that i am used to at these types of events. i felt bad for Lizzle and her other brother who said they were both nervous whilst giving their speeches just after the dinner. when you give a speech at a sibling's wedding there is always that little thing that makes you want to bring up some of the juicy bits of their lives that only you know! anyone who knows me knows how hard of a task it was for me to keep it clean at my sis's wedding :) anyway, invariably it's hard to keep it sweet without getting emotional or feeling super nervous. on a side note, there were so many really tall people there i felt like i was a dwarf! although i did "tower" over Lizzle 'cuz i was wearing my fancy doc dressy shoes. hehe.

now that there is an election in Ontario it looks like i may be a bit more busier at work for the next month. though it looks like i'll be staying in Ottawa and not being sent to Toronto.

on the topic of work, if anyone wants a fairly stressful job setting up daily itineraries, let me know. it's a full time job with good pay and alright benefits. there will be an opening where i work in the next week or so. and no, it's not for my job :P

next year i'm gonna try out for Canadian Idol. my costume will consist of assless chaps, a cowboy hat, and a biker vest... naturally i'll be singing Anne Murray tunes. i blame Lizzle for my facination with the show. grr! :)
